The paper considers differences in roles, workplaces, training, legislation and registration, continuing professional development, and accountability. This paper synthesizes freely available information on PT training and service delivery across the UK, Australia and United States (California). It is timely to consider international differences in PT, with the aims of identifying opportunities for shared learning and forming stronger international alliances to support consistent and evidence-based workforce reforms. International PT workforce reforms are underway to deal with increasing patient numbers, shrinking medical and nursing workforces and lengthy waiting lists. Physiotherapy or Physical Therapy (PT) is the most commonly practised allied health discipline globally. Identifying impact assessment indicators helps investors in health research, organizations, and researchers to evaluate the impacts of their research from various aspects. The majority of the identified indicators were related to knowledge production. A total of 82 indicators were identified, which were classified into 5 categories of knowledge production, capacity building, awareness of policies and product development, health effects, and economic effects. In order to identify indicators of medical research impact assessment, this narrative review was conducted using 42 articles indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed databases. Various studies have used different indicators to assess the impact of medical research. This has created an increased need for the assessment of the impact of such investments. Policy documents (e.g., Gov.UK, IMF, WHO, etc.The aim of investment in health research is improvement of the state of policy-making, allocation of resources, practical application of research results, and improvement of public health.Collections of book reviews (e.g., Bryn Mawr Classical Review).Selected scholarly/academic blogs (e.g., Scholarly Kitchen).Academic social platforms (Mendeley, F1000).Publicly visible posts on social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Reddit, etc.).More than 2,000 different news and media outlets (e.g., The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Vox, Salon, Huffington Post, etc.).(Start date of tracking varies by source.)
